The Maiden Voyage, a name change party

This thematic, chic soiree we threw last year was featured on Style Me Pretty ages ago, but we’ve had yet to post our own full run-down of the shindig. Until today! Today is going to be a day full of nautical impressions and memories of last summer’s warm sun. Are you ready? Anchors aweigh then.

The premise of the party:

Looking for a memorable way to officially change their last names and also a reason to throw a fabulous party, two co-workers decided to surprise their husbands with a fun summer ceremony. With the help of friends, family and local event vendors, the Maiden Voyage was born and two unsuspecting husbands had the surprise of the summer as their wives finally took the plunge at a summer backyard ceremony.

A few details to help you follow along…When the husbands returned home from golfing they were met with glasses of their favorite whiskey and outfits for the night ahead. The nautical theme (Maiden Voyage, get it?!) could be seen throughout the event – from the music, to the ceremony, to the yellow and blue color palette. No small detail was left undone; there were customized wine labels on the wine bottles and mini bottles of champagne, cupcakes, a photo booth with nautical themed props and enlarged copies of their new licenses for guests to sign with their well-wishes.

It was top-notch, obviously. So, to all you ladies who have yet to change your name….who’s next?
